BN rep drops land reclamation motion

GEORGE TOWN: The much-anticipated motion by Barisan Nasional’s Pulau Betong assemblyman Muhammad Farid Saad against land reclamation in the state assembly here became a tame event when he withdrew it. Instead, state Local Government and Traffic Management Committee chairman Chow Kon Yeow (DAP-Padang Kota) tabled an emergency motion which was unanimously agreed and adopted by the August House.

In a rare display of solidarity, the Penang state assembly passed the motion on the controversial land reclamation project on the southern tip of the Penang island unanimously, with the support of Barisan Nasional assemblymen.
