GEORGE TOWN: Norhanim Hasnor was rescued by border authorities from a Thai woman in a taxi in Rantau Panjang, Kelantan, when she was two months old, plunging her into a life of uncertainty.

Believed to have been smuggled into Malaysia, Norhanim was placed in an orphanage in Kuantan, Pahang, and was adopted by a family from Sungai Nibong here when she was four.
