PETALING JAYA: Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah was stopped from leaving the country on Sunday night.

Maria was at KL International Airport for her flight to South Korea to receive a human rights award.

"BERSIH Chair, @mariachin just been barred from leaving the country. She suppose to receive Gwangju Award from Korea," tweeted Bersih 2.0 official Twitter account @bersih2 on Sunday night.

It said that no reason was given except that it was under "arahan Putrajaya."

"Bersih strongly condemns the order to @mariachin prevent @mariachin from leaving the country. @Zahid_Hamidi must explain immediately," tweeted @bersih2.
