PETALING JAYA: No dengue virus has been detected in blood donated locally but a handful of studies worldwide have shown that there is a risk.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the National Blood Centre had received an average of two reports of suspected dengue transmission through blood transfusion a year since 2014 but none had proven transmission following investigation.
