Cops investigating video of warden allegedly beating up student

SUNGAI BULOH: Police have confirmed the authenticity of a video showing a school warden allegedly beating up a student at a vocational school here and are investigating the matter.

The video clip shows a man repeatedly stepping on and hitting a student, believed to be in Form 4, after allegedly catching him smoking a cigarette at a stairwell in a school, before he was persuaded to stop by other students.

In a press statement, Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar said a 16-year-old student lodged a report at the district police headquarters on Monday here over the incident, which occurred at about 5.30pm on May 3.

He said police are investigating the case under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing harm.

"The public is advised to not speculate on the incident," said DCP Abdul Rahim, adding that the investigations will be conducted thoroughly and with transparency.
