UEC set to be recognised very soon, says Chong Sin Woon

KLANG: The Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) is set to be recognised by the government very soon, said Deputy Education Minister Chong Sin Woon.

He said the ongoing process of getting the certificate fully recognised and accepted as an entry qualification to local universities was nearing fruition.

“The journey towards the realisation is only a mile away now,” he said after flagging off a Humanitary Run programme organized by the Klang Red Crescent Society here Sunday.

Also present at the ceremony was Kapar MCA division chairman Datuk Song Kee Chai.

Chong said that the vibe was good at present and it was high time for all stakeholders to work harder in the final leg for the recognition to come true.

“With such good vibes around, we will succeed and achieve our target as long as we work hard politically.

“We are really close,” he said.

“Just let the relevant stakeholders to continue with their jobs to make the recognition a reality,” he added.

Chong also denied that the UEC recognition would be dragged until the next general election or “made a tactic to fish votes for Barisan Nasional in the next general election.”

Without stating a time frame for the government to finalise the recognition, Chong noted that the technical procedures, including meetings with the United Chinese School Committees’ Association (Dong Zong) and the Higher Education Ministry have been conducted.

“I think the vibes are great in general and we will make it to the ending point soon,” he added
