THE owner of a duck farm in Kulim, Kedah, was slashed to death by two men after he tried to stop them from robbing his workers, reported Makkal Osai.

K. Muniandy, 55, who owned a duck farm in Padang Serai, had employed 11 foreign workers.

At about 3am on Saturday, two men barged into the farm and tried to rob the workers.

Muniandy, who was sleeping at that time, woke up due to the commotion and went to confront the robbers, who immediately attacked him with a parang, wounding him severely on the face, neck and back. .

> The daily also reported that a tribe in Rajasthan, India, were so concerned about nature and the environment that nursing mothers even breastfed baby deer separated from the herd.

The Bishnoi tribe, who follow the teachings of their guru Sri Jambeshwar Bhagwan, consider animals as part of their family and the deer, in particular, to be sacred.

Completely vegetarian, the tribe would rear fawn and other orphaned or injured animals in their homes.

The story of Bishnoi mothers breastfeeding fawns became known after a young woman was photographed feeding her own baby and an animal that she rescued at the same time.

The fawn, which the woman saved from a pack of wild dogs, was released back into the wild.

Members of the tribe also live in parts of Gujarat, Madya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
