MIRI: Tan Sri Adenan Satem wants the perception that Sarawak is just another state to be corrected, as it is an equal partner in Malaysia.
The Chief Minister chided Sarawakian MPs for not pointing this out in Parliament and not doing enough to stop Sarawakian rights from being eroded.
“I have to be honest and say that our Sarawakian MPs in Parliament have not done enough to point out this fact that Sarawak is not just another state in Malaysia,” he told the people in the Piasau constituency.
Adenan said that Sarawak had formed Malaysia with Sabah, Singapore and Malaya. However, over the years Sarawak’s statues in Malaysia and its rights have been eroded.
“We are considered as the 13th state and that we joined Malaysia.
“That is wrong. There was no Malaysia for us to join.
“Malaysia only came about after Sarawak and Sabah and Malaya and Singapore united into one.
“As the Chief Minister of Sarawak I want to correct these wrongs,” he said.
Adenan urged the people of Sarawak to give him their full backing by voting for the Barisan candidates in Team Adenan.
For Miri, he called for solid backing for Datuk Lee Kim Shin (BN-SUPP candidate for Senadin) Datuk Sebastian Ting (BN-SUPP candidate for Piasau) and Datuk Hii King Chiong (BN-Direct candidate for Pujut).
Adenan also spoke at length on how he is trying to defend the Chinese community and is making sure they are treated as equal citizens.
He said the Chinese in Sarawak are from the seventh generation and are not migrants to the state and country.
