TANAH MERAH: A 40-year-mother can't believe her eyes as she approached the scene of an accident near her house to find that one of the dead victims was her son.

Zalina Ghani said Mohd Alif Amani Mohd Zafri, 20, was barely alive as she held him at the accident site at the 2.4KM Jalan Tanah Merah – Pasir Mas at 1.15am on Saturday.

"I came out to see what was happening after hearing a loud bang outside the house.

"When I saw my son lying on the road bleeding I could not say anything but just look at him. It was something no one would expect,"  Zalina said at her home at Jalan Ahmad.

Mohd Alif was rushed to the hospital where he died later.

The accident involving two cars occured some 300m from Zalina's house. She said she never expected Mohd Alif to be involved as he was going to Pasir Mas.

The other victims were identified as Muhammad Salihin Yasar,17 and Tan Hok Sun, 28, while three others were seriously injured.

District police chief Deputy Supt Suzaimi Mohamad said the accident occured after both cars collided head on.

He said Tan, who was driving alone in one car, died on the spot while Mohd Alif's friend, Muhammad Salihin, died on the way to the hospital.

The injured - Nurul Atika Abdullah, 17, Nurul Idayu Nasri,18 and Nor Asmira Mahadi, 21, - were in the car driven by Mohd Alif.
