MIRI: Barisan Nasional has won Bukit Kota and Bukit Sari uncontested, cementing its hold on these urban constituencies in northernmost Sarawak.
At the close of nomination yesterday, Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail of Bukit Kota in Limbang town and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan of Bukit Sari in Lawas town clinched the seats.
Both are incumbents from Parti Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu (PBB) who were defending their respective seats. The towns are located in Limbang division which borders Brunei.
Months before the dissolution of the state assembly, there was already talk that Awang Tengah would win with no challengers in sight.
That prediction by Lawas folk has turned out to be true.
This is the second time that Awang Tengah has won uncontested.
His previous uncontested battle was in 1996.
