GEORGE TOWN: A senior female police officer, sentenced to three-and-a-half-years in jail by a magistrate’s court for releasing an alleged serial Casanova swindler, has been granted a stay of execution.

High Court Judicial Commis­sioner Datuk Azmi Ariffin yesterday allowed the application by Asst Supt L. Chandkumary’s (pic) counsel Dr N. Ahilan, pending the hearing of an appeal proper at the High Court.
