KUCHING: A contribution of RM8mil was presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for houses of worship located in Taman Malihah here.

The Prime Minister had previously visited several houses of worship in Taman Malihah last month and pledged that allocations would be given to build and renovate the mosque and churches there.

Masjid Darul Furqan chairman Mashap Alek thanked the Federal and state governments for their contributions.

“The funds will be used to rebuild the mosque and its facilities,” he said on Sunday, adding that the work would start soon.

Taman Malihah Anglican Chapel chairman Kana Ana Grasi meanwhile said the contributions would be used to demolish the old chapel and rebuild a new one, which will increase capacity from 300 to 500.

Also, in attendance at the event Kuching International Airport on Sunday was Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang, who represented Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem.
