PETALING JAYA: A faulty traffic light in Subang Jaya could be the cause of the unusually heavy traffic in the Klang Valley on Thursday.

Motorists making their way to work found themselves stuck in their cars longer than usual due to the faulty traffic light sensors.

According to Star Radio Group traffic team head, Priscilla Patrick, traffic light sensors in front of the Sunway Medical Centre in Subang Jaya went haywire.

This resulted in traffic being backed up along seven major locations around the area.

Besides causing a mess of the traffic situation in Subang Jaya itself, the malfunction affected motorists on the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP), the Kesas Highway, the New Pantai Expressway, the Puchong-Sungai Besi Highway, the Kinrara Damansara Expressway and the Kelana Link from the Subang airport heading towards the city.

Patrick said police were at the affected areas to ease traffic and the situation returned to normal in the afternoon.
