KUALA LUMPUR: There is no reason for Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin (pic) to step down or be removed from the Johor Mentri Besar post as he is not like the former Kedah mentri besar, says Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.
Speaking to reporters at the Parliament lobby Wednesday, the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department said that Khaled was not "an enemy in the fold".
"The Johor MB is not like the former Kedah MB," she said, referring to Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, who stepped down from the post on Feb 3.
She added that one man could not speak for the whole of Johor as Khaled was a man who did his ground work and gave undivided support to Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
She was saying this in response to a Facebook post by Shukur Mohamad, the son of the Johor state assembly speaker, who claimed there was a plot to remove Khaled from his position.
In his post, Shukor claimed that a deputy minister had initiated a movement to remove Khaled.
Shukur also claimed that there was another plot to remove Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as Pagoh Umno division chairman.
