KUALA LUMPUR: Two Scorpene submarines - KD Tunku Abdul Rahman and KD Tun Abdul Razak - were not used for the search mission of missing Malaysia Airlines plane MH370 as the sonar on the vessels were not made to identify objects on the seabed.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein in a parliamentary written reply said the sonars were only useful to find or identify objects that produce sound above or underwater.
