KUALA LUMPUR: Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar should not politicise the issue of her being investigated by the Parliamentary Rights and Privileges Committee, said Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said (pic).
In a statement Thursday, the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department said the motion to investigate Nurul Izzah was made by the Government and not a personal motion.
"I would like to repeat and stress that the motion to subject YB Lembah Pantai to the Rights and Privileges Committee is a Government motion and not a personal motion by me as the Pengerang MP.
"Furthermore, the motion was debated and decided by the Dewan Rakyat on Dec 3, 2015.
"It would be better if she could use this opportunity to explain herself rather than politicising the issue," said Azalina.
According to her, she was not able to comment on any matter that was still under the consideration of the committee as she was bound by Standing Order 85.
"The Lembah Pantai MP is also bound by the Standing Order as she has been called to testify before the committee. Therefore I hope she is aware of her obligations and duties,” said Azalina.
