KUANTAN: A video showing a student kneeling down while being berated by a classmate was an incident that actually happened last year.

Pahang Education Department director Datuk Rosdi Ismail (pic) said it was true that the kneeling Form One student was expelled in August last year but it was due to multiple disciplinary problems.

"His demerit points are too high that the school has no choice but to expel him. You can say that he is a naughty student.

"It is to be noted though that he has already transferred to another school and is still studying," he said when contacted Monday.

The video showed a boy kneeling on the floor and sobbing, while another student accused him for allegedly throwing her calculator, had been circulating online for the past few days.

Some teachers were heard asking the girl some questions while she kept scolding the boy in the incident that happened in a secondary school in Mentakab, Temerloh.

Rosdi said investigation also found that the teachers involved had not followed standard operating procedures while handling the case.
