PETALING JAYA: Schools in Kedah and Perlis are to resume classes on March 24.

The Education Ministry said in a statement that all schools nationwide are to resume lessons on Thursday as temperatures have dropped.

The decision was made after a 72-hour nationwide observation found that temperatures remained below 38 degree Celcius.

The ministry also issued a directive for all schools to take precautionary measures such as ensuring that there is an adequate supply of clean drinking water in the school.

All activities outside the classroom are still suspended until further notice, said the ministry.

The ministry added that schools should also be alert and cooperate with nearby clinics and hospitals if any students face complications due to the heatwave.

All state education departments and district education offices are to monitor all schools to ensure they follow the directive, it said.

The ministry said it will continue to issue announcements from time to time regarding this issue.
