KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and two others are suing the Prime Minister for alleged misfeasance in public office.

The former prime minister, former Batu Kawan Umno division vice-chief Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan and former Umno member Anina Saadudin, named Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as the sole defendant in the lawsuit filed on Wednesday.

They are seeking a High Court order for Najib to pay RM2.6bil in exemplary damages and RM42mil in aggravated damages to the Government.

The plaintiffs said that they have the legal right to bring the action as citizens of Malaysia.

They are seeking to the court to declare that Najib has committed misfeasance in public office and breach of fiduciaries in public office by using his position as the Prime Minister, chairman of Barisan Nasional and Umno president.
