Blind old woman living in dire condition

A BLIND elderly woman, who could not walk after a fall recently, is in dire straits in Tanah Merah, Kelantan, reported China Press.

Members of the Kelantan Chinese Welfare Club who visited Chin Jin Tao, 86, at her home recently, were shocked to see her living condition.

Chin, who lives alone in the house, only uses the living room and crawls to the washroom when she needs to.

She used to be a rubber tapper but stopped when she became blind due to cataract. Her husband, son and daughter-in-law have passed away.

Her former employer sends her food every day. However, hygiene problem is getting serious as Chin can no longer take care of the house due to her immobility.

Welfare club chairman Fang Chong Nan said he would discuss with Chin’s employer to send her to an old folk’s home.

“At least there will be someone to take care of her,” he said.

He said club members would visit Chin once a month and provide her with dry foodstuff.
