Legal action described as futile and perplexing

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Bar Council’s move in initiating legal action to seek a judicial review of the Attorney-General’s recent decisions with regard to the Prime Minister is futile and perplexing, said Dr Kamarul Zaman Yusoff.

The Universiti Utara Malaysia’s Institute for Malaysian Political Analysis director said that according to Bar president Steven Thiru, the Malaysian Bar is of the view that the discretionary prosecutorial powers conferred on the A-G by Article 145 (3) of the Federal Constitution are not absolute or unfettered.
