KOTA KINABALU: The photo of a dog tied to a four-wheel-drive vehicle and dragged along the road to Lahad Datu has caused an uproar among social media users.
A driver who was behind the vehicle at that time had snapped the picture and posted it on Facebook, describing how it was during her entire ride home.
The user, who later took down the picture as she was too traumatised by the incident, said she and her husband were on their way back to Lahad Datu when the vehicle overtook them.
“We saw the dog, which was already dead at that time, tied behind and dragged the whole way,” the woman told The Star but requested that her name not be published.
She said the driver was driving like a maniac, trying to overtake everyone in front of him.
Facebook users who saw the posting expressed their shock over the inhumane act.
Cami Joey called it “cruel” while Farizan Satar said the person probably wanted to take revenge on the dog. “Apa salah tu anjing. Yang pasti orang itu sakit mental. (What wrong did the dog do? What is sure is that the person is psychotic),” she said.
A sympathetic Qurratuani Zakariah said the dog was also God’s creation.
Some called for the owner to be brought to justice and urged that a police report be lodged against the person.
Lahad Datu police chief Asst Comm Hamza Ahmad, however, said they had not received any report pertaining to the case and could only take action if they had the necessary information.
