YONG PENG: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic) has criticised the Opposition for confusing the people with contradictory statements, which shows polarised support for Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's bid to oust Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as prime minister.

When asked to comment on Opposition-aligned groups not in favour of the Dr Mahathir-led citizens' declaration, the deputy MCA president said that the Opposition was only causing further confusion among the people.

"On day one of the declaration, the Opposition claimed that move was only to topple the leadership of Datuk Seri Najib," said Dr Wee, who is also a Minister in the Prime Minister's Department.

"But the next day, their leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail comes out to say that the main agenda of the so-called 'Save Malaysia' movement is to free Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim," he said.

He said that Opposition should make up their minds as they were making contradicting statements that would lead to confusion.

Dr Wee said this to reporters after attending a briefing with 123 newly appointed and reappointed community chiefs under the village security and development committees (JKKK) in Johor.

Dr Mahathir and the Opposition had signed a declaration seeking the removal of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as prime minister on March 4.
