KUALA LUMPUR: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's actions have caused the downfall of his son Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir as the Kedah Mentri Besar.
Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz said that Dr Mahathir's actions had caused Mukhriz to be seen as a "political failure".
"He was dropped (as Kedah Mentri Besar) even before he could finish his term.
"Usually, leaders only vacate their post so they can move to a better position, however, in his case he was dropped. This has brought shame to the Mahathir family," he told reporters after launching Istana Budaya's annual calendar programme on Thursday.
Dr Mahathir was reported as saying that he was prepared to be questioned in court over a blog post criticising the Attorney-General and demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister.
The former Prime Minister maintained that his criticism was nothing personal but was only out of concern for the future of the country.
Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah took over the Kedah Mentri Besar position on Feb 4.
