Lorry driver who rammed into 18 cars in Penang surrenders

NIBONG TEBAL: The lorry driver who allegedly damaged 18 cars by ramming into  them in Taman Berjaya here has surrendered to the police.

The suspect turned up at the Jawi police station at about 9pm on Sunday and was subsequently arrested .

He was released after his statement was recorded.

He will be charged in court Tuesday for reckless driving under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a maximum fine of RM10,000 and a maximum jail term of one year, if convicted.

The lorry driver, in his 30s, became infuriated after he failed to move his vehicle as cars belonging to market-goers parked illegally were blocking his vehicle.
