Water supply disruption in Kuala Langat, Sepang, Hulu Selangor, Petaling

KUALA LUMPUR: Several areas in Kuala Langat and Sepang are experiencing water supply disruption after the Bukit Tampoi water treatment plant was shut down at 8am due to pollution in Sungai Langat.

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) in a statement said the river was being closely monitored and the water treatment plant would resume operations as soon as the pollution level in Sungai Langat subsides.

"In order to minimise inconvenience to consumers, water supply has been delivered through tankers to the affected areas," the statement said.

Among the areas affected are Kampung Olak Lempit, Selangor Dredging, Taman Changgang Jaya, Taman Arked, Taman Seri Dagang, RTB Bukit Changang, Bandar Mahkota, Taman Murnimas, Olak Lempit Furniture Complex, Kampung Bukit Changgang, Kampung Labohan Dagang, Taman Topaz, Taman Ambar, Taman Langat Murni, Bandar Ehsan Seri, Taman Langat Utama, D'Menara and Pusat Serenti.

In Sepang, the affected area is Kampung Orang Asli Bangkong.

In a separate statement, Syabas informed that several areas in Hulu Selangor and Petaling will also experience water supply disruption from Feb 23 following the installation and removal of water pipes.

Consumers are advised to store sufficient water and use water prudently during the disruption period.

The Hulu Selangor areas covers Kampung Permata Kundang, Desa Kundang, Kundang Jaya, Tasik Biru, Industri Kundang, Bandar Baru Kundang, Sungai Serai and Kampung Baru Kundang which will experience water supply disruption on Feb 23 from 9am to midnight.

The Petaling area to experience water disruption on Feb 27 from 9pm to 7am the next morning (Feb 28) includes Section 6 to Section 10, part of Section 12, Jalan Gasing and part of Section 5, and Section 52, Petaling Jaya.

Taman Serdang Industrial area and Seri Kembangan, Petaling, will also experience water supply disruption on the same day and time.
