Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has described the US-Asean summit hosted by President Barack Obama as a recognition of the diplomatic, economic and strategic importance of Asean.
In a statement on the eve of the two-day special summit, Najib said the meeting was significant after the elevation of the dialogue relations to a strategic partnership in November last year in Kuala Lumpur.
