Penang cops, council refute claim congestion at balloon fiesta hampered ambulance

Hot air balloons being inflated during the Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2016.

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Island City Council (MBPP) and police have denied that an ambulance heading to the Penang Hospital was stuck in a traffic jam as the route was choked with vehicles due to the Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2016.

MBPP Enforcement Department director Kapt (rtd) Mohd Feroze Md Noor strongly denied that such a thing happened as the council had stationed 40 of its officers on rotating shifts around-the-clock to ensure smooth traffic flow during the two-day event.
