MTUC president Khalid Atan passes away

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Trade Union Congress (MTUC) president Khalid Atan (pic) passed away on Tuesday morning.

His death was confirmed by MTUC secretary-general N. Gopal Kishnam. 

Gopal said that Khalid had collapsed in the bathroom before being rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

Khalid, 63, was first elected as the congress’ president in 2010 and re-elected in 2013.

He left behind his wife and four children.
