Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB) blamed a double circuit tripping close to Bintulu for the incident, which began just past 6.30pm.
Power was gradually restored from 7pm onwards to places like Sibu first. In the state capital, power returned in stages, with areas north of Sarawak River getting power back first. By 9pm, almost all of Kuching had electricity.
