Wanita MCA worried for converted minors

KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita MCA has voiced concern that unilaterally converted Muslim minors could only seek redress at age 18.

Its chairman Datuk Heng Seai Kie said the provision for a minor child converted to Islam by a muallaf (Muslim convert) parent to be able to seek redress at the Syariah Court after that age was self-defeatist as such an action would only serve to reconfirm his or her religious status as a Muslim.
