MUAR: Police have rescued a 15-year-old Vietnamese girl from human traffickers during a raid in Sungai Abong here.

Sixty people, including 53 Vietnamese and three Thai women, were arrested when police stormed a bistro in Jalan Susur Tengah, Taman Kampong Tengah, and a cafe in Jalan Mulia, Taman Sungai Abong Mulia, at about 11.30pm on Saturday.

Among those detained were a Malaysian woman and three men.

Johor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the operation, conducted under Ops Noda Khas, was aimed at cracking down on immoral activities, prostitution and human trafficking.

The girl had been sent to a safe house, he said, adding that she was rescued under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007.

The local suspects had been remanded for four days starting yesterday while the foreign nationals were being held for 14 days, he said.
