PETALING JAYA: Malaysia should have a National Water Safety Council to address the issue of deaths related to drowning and also to promote safety awareness.
National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said there is no proper authority to deal with drowning incidents in the country, unlike road accidents, where various government departments and agencies like the police, Road Transport Department and Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research could deal with it.
