KUALA LUMPUR: Mohd Ali Baharom (pic), popularly known as Ali Tinju, has been arrested over statements made at Kompleks Kota Raya last Friday.
City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad confirmed that the army veteran was arrested on Monday.
Mohd Ali led a protest outside Kota Raya last Friday, demanding a boycott of the shopping centre.
Police have arrested a 38-year-old suspect in connection with a brawl which broke out on Sunday between workers at a mobile phone shop at the complex and a group claiming to have been scammed by them.
The suspect, a parking attendant, was arrested at the shopping complex after the fracas was brought under control.
He is believed to be part of the group involved in the assault on shop workers.
Police are investigating whether he was also one of the individuals allegedly swindled by the traders.
Those who claimed to have been cheated did not lodge a police report prior to the fracas but only did so after the incident on Sunday.
The group is believed to have responded to a call on Facebook to band together and claim a refund.
Two people were reportedly injured in the brawl at the shopping complex.
