KOTA BARU: The Kelantan Umno veterans have lodged a police report against the G25 group of eminent Malays for suggesting that the Government abolish the Islamic Development Department (Jakim) and khalwat (close proximity) law.

The report was lodged by its chairman Datuk Rozali Isohak at the district police headquarters in Pengkalan Chepa here at 11am Tuesday.

"The suggestion (by G25) is seen as an attempt to interfere in the Federal Government's administration and to undermine the Islamic legal system and administration of Islam in the state which is under the Malay Rulers," he told reporters.

Rozali said that the Kelantan Umno veterans regarded the statement by G25 as serious and could affect the faith of Muslims. - BERNAMA
