Australian actress reunited with son after ‘drama’ at Mid Valley Megamall

PETALING JAYA: An Australian actress was reunited with her son after she managed to snatch him away from her estranged ex-partner at a restaurant in Mid Valley Megamall, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.

It said that Eliza Szonert had taken her son back from Australian musician and businessman Ashley Crick during a dramatic meeting on Thursday.

Szonert, who formerly starred in the Australian television series Neighbours, reportedly came with her son to live with Crick in Kuala Lumpur but the couple became estranged and were embroiled in a custody battle.

The report said that the actress sought the aid of two men from a “leading Australian child recovery agency”, who engaged Crick while Szonert picked the child and walked away.

However, Szonert and her child were without passports, which left them stranded in Malaysia.

"I am calling on the Australian government to provide all necessary assistance to help my son and I return to Australia," she was quoted as saying in the report.

It said that Australia's Foreign Affairs Department confirmed that Szonert was being provided consular assistance in Kuala Lumpur but declined to reveal further details.

Crick was reportedly working in Malaysia as a chief technology officer at an Internet TV service provider. His only comment on the matter was that he “was very focused on his son’s well being”.
