Almarhum Tunku Abdul Malik, who was a younger brother of Yang di-Pertuan Agong, was confirmed to have passed away at 1 am due to an illness, according to Menteri Besar Datuk Mukhriz Tun Mahathir at a special media conference at Wisma Darul Aman this morning.

As early as 1.30 am until 2.30 pm, the public had queued up at Dewan Penghadapan Istana Anak Bukit to pay their final respects, followed by a final respect session by dignitaries until 3.30 pm.

The final prayer for Almarhum Raja Muda Kedah was led by Kedah deputy Mufti Syeikh Marwazi Dziyauddin.

Tunku Abdul Malik's demise followed more than two months after the death of his wife Raja Puan Muda Kedah, Tunku Hajah Raudzah Almarhum Sultan Hisamuddin Alam Shah on Sept 21.

After the final respects, the remains of the late Raja Muda Kedah were taken aboard a special hearse for the trip to the Langgar Royal Cemetery via the Darulaman Highway, Sultanah Bahiyah Highway and Jalan Langgar.

At the Langgar Royal Cemetery, the 'talkin' was read by State Mufti Datuk Paduka Syeikh Muhamad Baderudin Ahmad, after the remains of Almarhum Tunku Abdul Malik was laid to rest at 6 pm.
