Doc: Vaping to kick smoking habit not the answer

Yes to quitting: Health Ministry secretary-general Datuk Dr Chen Chaw Ming (left) launching the logo of the ‘M Quit Services’ after witnessing the MoU between the ministry and partners in the quit smoking programme in Putrajaya. With him are (from second left) Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Dr Lokman and USM deputy vice-chancellor (research and innovation) Prof Datuk Dr Muhamad Jantan.

PUTRAJAYA: Don’t resort to vaping if you want to quit smoking. Seek professional help instead. This is the advice of the Health Ministry.

Its deputy director-general (Public Health) Datuk Dr Lokman Hakim Sulaiman said there had not been any scientific evidence to prove that smoking e-cigarettes or vaping would help one lose the smoking addiction.
