GEORGE TOWN: The High Court here has dismissed a defamation suit filed by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and his deputy Dr P. Ramasamy against New Straits Times and its reporter Predeep Nambiar.

Judicial Commissioner Datuk Azmi Ariffin ruled on Monday that the article titled "Indian-interest group claims thugs interrupted meeting" published on its website on Dec 4, 2013, was a qualified privilege due to absence of malice, which both plaintiffs had failed to prove.
