KUALA LUMPUR: The two siblings arrested over the death of their mother have been remanded at the KL Hospital, as police probe them for murder.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Chong Kok Sin said the brother, aged 25, and sister, aged 22, were both local university students and would be held at the hospital for a week.

Police have declined to comment on the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of 63-year-old Wan Yah Wan Mat, who was found bloodied in her water-logged flat in Bandar Seri Permaisuri on Tuesday.

She was found with bruises on her face and the back of her head, with blood oozing from her nose.

Her body was claimed by family members from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital (HUKM) Tuesday evening.

City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said prior to the find, the police received a call from a woman named Sinar.

SAC Zainuddin said the caller informed them that water was flowing from the front door of the unit.

"When our officers arrived, the flat was locked," he said.

"So, we got personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department to gain entry," he said, adding that once inside, they saw Wan Yah's two children standing next to her body.
