SHAH ALAM: PAS members in the Selangor state government will continue their work in spite of calls by the DAP to remove them.
Selangor PAS commissioner Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad said he and his colleagues will continue with their duties as members of the state government.
"PAS is in the state government and our responsibility is continue working as we have a lot to do.
"Our core focus is serving the people and political issues such as these must be put aside," Iskandar told reporters at the sidelines of the Selangor legislative assembly Monday.
Besides Iskandar, the other PAS representatives are Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi and Zaidy Abdul Talib.
There are also about 5,000 PAS members in various positions under the state government.
PAS was the one of the main topics of discussion at the Selangor DAP convention on Sunday with many braying for the removal of PAS representatives from the state government.
One of the delegates Kajang Baru division chairman Chiong Yoke Kong even went as far as telling the DAP leadership to give Mentri Besar Azmin Ali a time frame to remove PAS representatives from the executive council.
Iskandar said Selangor PAS did not discuss the DAP's attacks.
"The main discussions are on how best to serve the people in line with the 2016 budget that was tabled by the Mentri Besar," said Iskandar.
Asked if he felt it was unfair for Selangor DAP to pummel PAS in their state convention, Iskandar said it was the delegates' right to do so.
"It is their convention and they can say what they like," he said.
Iskandar said the victory in Selangor in the 2013 general election was from the collaborative effort of PKR, PAS and DAP.
Meanwhile, DAP's Sekinchan assemblyman Ng Suee Lim told reporters this was not the time to discuss the the PAS-DAP matter in Selangor.
"We will continue with our original agenda in Selangor to serve the people in line with the mandate given to us in the 2013 polls," said Ng.
He said in terms of politics, DAP has severed ties with PAS and has a new coalition at the national level but that need not necessarily apply to Selangor.
"Selangor is unique because when we won in the general election it was together (with PAS and PKR) with a common manifesto under former mentri besar Tan Sri Khalid," said Ng.
He said the people had accepted the common manifesto and the right and responsible thing to do would be to continue with it.
He added everyone who won under the common manifesto had a role to play in the state government.
