KUALA LUMPUR: Police have referred the investigations into the stomping of the leaders' picture during Bersih 4 and burning of effigies in the Red Shirt rally to the Attorney-General's Chambers.
"Police have conducted investigations under Section 545b of the Penal Code over the stepping of images of Pekan MP (Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) and Marang MP (PAS president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang).
"Investigation papers have been referred to the Deputy Attorney-General on Sept 17 for further instructions," said Home Minuster Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at Parliament House.
He was replying to Teo Nie Ching (DAP-Kulai) on police investigations on reports lodged against the group behind the incident.
Dr Ahmad Zahid also said that police had probed the burning of effigies of DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng in Kota Baru prior to the Red Shirt Rally in September.
"For burning the effigies of Gelang Patah MP (kit Siang) and Bagan MP (Guan Eng), police have conducted investigations under Section 505b of the Penal Code.
"Investigation papers have been referred to the Attorney-General on October 13 for further instructions," he added.
