KUALA LUMPUR: GOASEAN.com has won the Best Asia Pacific Destination Website at the 8th TravelMole Asia Pacific Web Awards, as well as the Silver 2015 International Davey Award.
These latest awards mean GOASEAN has swept five awards within seven months after its launch here this year.
The TravelMole Asia Pacific Web Award winners were announced at ITB Asia, a major Asian travel trade show held in Singapore last week. The award recognises excellence in web, social, mobile and travel technology deployments, and is judged by a panel consisting of online travel experts with nominations sent in by over 65,000 Australia and Asia Pacific travel trade readers.
The Davey Awards honour the creative achievements of small agencies worldwide in web, design, video, advertising, mobile, and social media.
In an immediate response, Culture and Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz said that the prestigious awards signify the effectiveness and uniqueness of GOASEAN’s platforms in showcasing Asean as a single tourism destination.
“Indeed, GOASEAN takes advantage of an effective mix of digital, social and creative excellence in positioning itself as an engaging channel to expand the unique offerings of Southeast Asia.
"I applaud GOASEAN for clinching five local and international accolades within just seven short months of its operations, which is a significant recognition of the hugely influential role that the portal plays in the holiday or business travel decision-making process," he said.
Earlier in the month, GOASEAN won the Gold and Silver awards respectively for Best Travel Website and Best Tourism Website at the prestigious W3 Awards, which recognises digital communications excellence.
In Malaysia, GOASEAN was voted the Best Website of the Month for August by the Malaysia Website Awards.
GOASEAN will be launching its LetsGONow online travel booking system soon, which will allow users to easily make travel and accommodation arrangements throughout the Asean region.
