Haze: Schools to remain closed tomorrow

PETALING JAYA: Schools that were closed in several states on Tuesday due to the haze will continue to be closed on Wednesday.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Education Ministry announced that schools in Selangor, Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Padawan Bau, Lundu, Serian, Samarahan, Simunjan and Lubok Antu in Sarawak, North Kinta, South Kinta, Manjung and Tanjung Malim in Perak and Kuala Muda Yan will remain closed.

However, schools in Malacca, Negri Sembilan, Tawau, Lahad Datu, Semporna and Kunak in Sabah, Muar, Ledang and Segamat in Johor will reopen tomorrow.

These schools were closed today. 

"The closure will affect 1,734,668 students in 2,528 schools nationwide. State and district education departments in those areas should inform the schools and parents immediately,” said the Ministry.
