Dr Mahathir claims red shirt rally held to divert attention from 1MDB

PETALING JAYA: The red shirt rally was intentionally devised by the government to incite racial sentiments, claimed Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pic).  

In Wednesday's interview with Asia-Pacific current-affairs magazine, The Diplomat, the former prime minister also claimed that the Sept 16 red shirt or Himpunan Maruah Melayu rally was carried as a way to divert attention from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
