SHAH ALAM: PKR deputy president Azmin Ali has dismissed allegations that there are efforts to undermine party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

The allegation was made by former Rembau PKR division chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin who had claimed in his blog that a coup d'etat was underway by Azmin's “cartel” to unseat Wan Azizah.

He also alleged that PKR currently had a split with Azmin's supporters forming an alliance with those who were unhappy with Dr Wan Azizah's impromptu announcement of Pakatan Harapan's formation.

"There is no split in the party. The allegation is mischievous and a lie by a bankrupt individual," said Azmin.

Azmin, who is also the Selangor Mentri Besar, spoke to reporters after launching the Selangor Digital Creative Center at i-City on Monday.

When asked about the petition sent in by 25 party members demanding a Supreme Council meeting to discuss Dr Wan Azizah's impromptu announcement, Azmin said it was an internal matter and there was no need to discuss it with the media.

"It is an internal party matter and we will discuss it," said Azmin.

He added that it was a normal process in PKR, to discuss matters that are important to its members and the people.

"We are open to discussions and we are very democratic," said Azmin.

The petition was signed by Batu MP Tian Chua, Padang Serai MP N.Surendran, Petaling Jaya Selatan MP Lee Hoy Sian, Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin, Sri Muda assemblyman Shuhaimi Shafiei, Kampung Medan assemblyman Haniza Talha, Bukit Lanjan assemblyman Elizabeth Wong, Kota Anggerik assemblyman Dr Yaakob Sapari and Batu Caves assemblyman Amirudin Shari.

On another matter Azmin said, state company Invest Selangor was working hard in bringing in investment to the state.

He said this was to maintain the current gross domestic produce given that Selangor is the biggest contributor to the national GDP.

Azmin said that setting-up the digital creative centre was a state effort to have current and up-to-date infrastructure to rope in investment.
