KOTA BARU: PAS is willing to take the chance with "enemy" PKR despite the high risks in the political cooperation, said party secretary general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan (pic).
He said PAS still needed to work with PKR to bring down the Barisan Nasional government although the latter had formed Pakatan Harapan with "other enemies" DAP and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) and accepted PAS senior members.
"It is too early to comment on the new opposition coalition beacause we have yet to see its direction and ideals.
"Although PAS has nothing to do with Pakatan Harapan, PKR needs PAS and vice-versa.
"And this is the official stand of PAS that we are willing to work with any political partners except BN," he told reporters after attending a meeting of national committee members chaired by president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang here.
Takiyuddin, the Kota Baru MP, said PAS does not view its members leaving to join PKR as a betrayal as the matter was a "separate issue" from the ones who joined Amanah, a splinter group of senior PAS members who lost in the July party elections.
"This is not a question of who betrayed whom and its just plain politics at play here. The subject on the defection of PAS members to PKR fold is a totally different issue to the ones who jumped ship to Amanah," he added.
Takiyuddin added that PAS was not worried if Amanah or DAP or even PKR were to contest in PAS traditional state or parliamentary seats.
He said he did not see any problems or complications in the 14th general election in terms of seat allocations with PKR.
