Wan Azizah: We need PAS to win elections

KUALA LUMPUR: Despite PAS' outright rejection, PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (pic) insisted that the door will always remain open for the Islamist party to join the new opposition coalition.

Dr Wan Azizah said PAS must be included as the coalition needed the numbers to win the general election.

"To win the election our system is first past the post. We need everybody, that is actually on the common platform," she said when asked if PKR had confidence in the newly-launched Parti Amanah Negara, a party consisting of former PAS leaders.

"If we are together, then majority wins," she told reporters after attending a dialogue on Coalition Government and Coalition Building in Malaysia on Sunday.

Dr Wan Azizah said PKR had extended an invitation to PAS to attend a roundtable discussion on forming a new coalition scheduled on Tuesday.

PAS had reportedly said they would not attend the meeting as they could not cooperate with DAP and Amanah.
