GEORGE TOWN: More than 20,000 people woke up to clear blue skies as they hit the streets during the Penang Starwalk 2015.

The sea of people was flagged off by Star Media Group Bhd executive director Tan Sri Kamal Hashim at the Penang Times Square, which has been the venue sponsor for the annual event since 2011.

Due to the overwhelming response, it took nearly 30 minutes to clear the strong crowd at the starting point.

Besides a 7km non-competition category this year, the premier sporting event had a charity segment, in which some participants from corporate companies and charities took part in the “Walk With Us” 1km walk.

Joining them were members of Ivorycares, the charitable arm of Ivory Properties Group Bhd, which sponsored goodie bags and breakfast for participants.

Penang Starwalk 2015 is jointly organised by Star Media Group Bhd (formerly known as Star Publications (M) Bhd) and the Penang Amateur Athletic Association.

YES is the Platinum sponsor for the event while the four Silver sponsors are E&O, Pallas, 100Plus and Magnum.
