ALOR SETAR: Eighteen working papers will be tabled at the Third Kedah-Siam (Thailand) International Seminar on Oct 5 and 6 with the theme “Kedah-Siam relations in historical colours”.

Kedah Museum director Suhaidi Shukri said the seminar here would delve into studies on relations between Kedah and Siam in various sectors such as trade, education, politics, culture and religion.

He said the seminar would give local and Thai history researchers an opportunity to exchange views and table research findings as well as new historical discoveries on the close relations between the two governments.

“There will be new subjects on the historical links between Kedah and Siam at the seminar,” Suhaidi said here yesterday.

“It will attract history researchers to continue studying and sharing for future generations.”

He said four history researchers and historians from Thaksin University in Songkla and several non-governmental organisations from Southern Thailand were scheduled to table the working papers.

Suhaidi said several state historians such as Datuk Wan Samsuddin Mohd Yusof, a local history researcher and university lecturer, would also be tabling a paper on the history of the two governments. — Bernama
